The under 12 team qualified for the “B” championship final versus Curry by virtue of a good win over Tubbercurry on Thursday. On Monday last the team were defeated by Curry in the final.

Key rings incorporating the new club crest are now available in local outlets. Please support this fundraiser for the under age teams.

The girls under 16 championship was due to be played on Monday last. It will be played over the Monday evenings in July.

In The Junior Championship Tourlestrane were defeated by Mullinabreena. A speedy recovery is wished to Shane Dunne who was injured in this game

Deepest sympathy is extended to the Owens families, Banada and Barratogher, on the death of Mrs Anne Owens

Best wishes are extended to the Dunleavy school of Dance who are visiting Boston at present. Members of our under age teams will be travelling with the school to compete in the Boston dancing Championships.

Bon Voyage is wished to senior player David Henry    who will be holidaying in America this summer.

Congratulations to Gerry McGowan, the top scorer in the Connaacht Championship

Happy holidays are extended to Patrick Normanly who is at home in Coolrecuil at present.

Congratulations to Senior hurler Shane Walsh on his recent marriage.

The club has been approved for 8 places on the Summer Employment Scheme. All eligible third level students are asked to pick up an application form from the Social Welfare Office Tubbercurry.

The GAA summer camp is currently being held in Tourlestrane with over 130 children participating. Due to the inclement weather, it will be held in Banada Abbey some days during the week

The under 14 boys team drew wuth a very strong Enniscrone team in the first round of the championship. The replay is due to be played this week See the minor fixtures for details

The senior team had a good win over Shamrock Gaels in Tourlestrane on Sunday last

Deepest sympathy  is extended to the Deehan family, Loch Talt, on the death of Jerry recently

Congratulations to Under 16 player Fergus Lundy, Rhue, who won 2 gold medals in the Connacht Athletics Championships held recently in Galway. Fergus placed 1st in both 100mtrs. and 200 mtrs. and is a member of the Calry AC. Congratulations to Aaron Murtagh, Lislea, and Padraig Leonard, Tullinagglug, who will represent South Sligo AC in the 100mtrs. Catlin and Brian who will take part in relay teams in the national finals to be held in Tullamore in 2 weeks time

The  under 14 boys team defeated Enniscrone on a scoreline of Tourlestrane 6-7  Enniscrone 2-5 in the replay of  the first round of the championship played in Enniscrone on Friday last. The second round was to be played on Tuesday  versus Owenmore Gaels. Details were unavailable at time of print.

The senior team defeated Cloonacool on Sunday last in sun drenched Cloonacool. The team will have a break now as the Sligo squad prepares for their All Ireland qualifier with Tyrone.

In the second round of the under 14 boys league Tourlestrane received a walkover of Owenmore Gaels as they failed to field a team.

 The under 16 girls made a clean sweep of the B Championship defeating Ballymote, Curry and Calry in the last week. The final is scheduled to be played on Wednesday August 26th. The panel is Aisling Seery, Tracey O’Hara. Jane Kennedy, Bernie Gavaghan, Marian Gavaghan, Edith Walsh. Laura Walshe, Marie McIntyre, Aisling Egan, Marion O’Donnell, Sinead Leonard, Fiona Walshe, Aoife Henry, Nicola Brennan, Louise Brett, Laura Neary, Yvonne Kelly Ann Marie Kelly, Shauna Henry.

The Junior Ladies will be facing into battle over the next few weeks. Recently re-organised by Marie Surlis, the new team manager Deirdre Gallagher, is anxious to have all those eligible, attend training on Mondays and Fridays. For further information contact Marie at 071 81144

Round 10 of the senior league takes place on Sunday next when the team face local rivals Curry at home at 12:00pm. The squad has received a boost with the return to full time action of James Curley. James has been furthering his studies in England where he has obtained a degree in Manufacturing Engineering. The club wishes to Congratulate James on his scholastic achievements

Congratulations to Peter Forde and the Sligo senior team on their splendid win over Tyrone in Croke Park on Sunday Last. Tourlestrane was well represented by the outstanding performances of David Durkin, Gerry McGowan, and “Man of the Match”, Eamonn O’Hara. The very best of continued success is wished to all concerned.
